How VFP is responding to COVID-19?
Can I still get advice and support from VFP?
Yes, absolutely! While our physical Advice & Support Centre was closed during government lockdowns, we have still been active and operational throughout the pandemic. We still offer telephone and online support via our support request form. As of May 2021, our centre has now reopened. Please get in touch with us if you need support during this challenging time.
Are VietSchool classes still happening?
Yes. Our pilots in virtual Vietnamese language school classes since the first lockdown,April 2020. Then this academic year started September 2020, they are still operating, though all classes are currently taking place online, via Zoom. The in-person classroom is currently closed. We currently do not have a set date for when in-person lessons will resume but will keep you updated when we have more information.
How is VFP keeping VietSchool students and staff safe?
All in-person Vietnamese language classes have shifted and are now taking place online to ensure the safety of our students and teaching staff. Our in-person VietSchool is currently closed. We currently do not have a set date for when in-person lessons will resume but will keep you updated when we have more information. We are considering a hybrid approach to accommodate those who are unable to attend in person or still do not feel safe enough to do so.
VFP will reopen the school only when it is safe to do so and after careful consideration and in line with government guidelines.
How has VFP ensured the Advice & Support Centre is COVID-19 safe?
VFP is dedicated to maintaining the safety of staff and visitors in our Advice & Support Centre. The centre undergoes thorough and professional cleaning every week and each office is also cleaned daily by staff. We limit the number of visitors at the centre and see one (or two from the same household) at a time.
We also have clear signage in and around the centre to emphasise the 2 meters social distancing rules and also require anyone entering the centre to wear a face covering in line with council standards. Face masks can also be provided for any visitor who does not have one of their own. Staff at our Advice and Support Centre also provide lateral flow COVID-19 antigen testing kits, which are distributed from our Drop-In Centre.
How is VFP keeping its team safe during the pandemic?
Our entire team of employees, volunteers and Trustees all transitioned to working remotely during the pandemic. As restrictions begin to lift, some staff are now being permitted to work at the Advice & Support Centre as we reopen in the safest way possible to provide help to our community in these difficult times.
